Archivation
In a world where film archivists, historians, museums and information scientists research the practice of ARCHIVING, what can a media designer bring to the table?M5 Thesis Review
Tuesday I had my final review for the semester. I presented a recap of where I was starting this semester, what I’ve accomplished so far, what I’ve been inspired from, and a plan for moving forward of what I want to design next term.
I got a ton of great feedback/critique. The following is a quick summation of notes from my review. Detailed version coming shortly:
Moving forward, I’ll be remixing the curiosity epicenters that are archives with wunderkammers and tasting rooms.
I’m wondering if archives can supply these future archive wunderkammers?
Anne thinks the host role is unnecessary. I disagree, every wine tasting room, wunderkammer, and archive has a person who knows those collections inside and out and can act as a tour guide. Mine will need one also.
I also agree standing is the wrong position. A more lounging position is appropriate such as couch/coffee table lounge or bar stools at a bar even. This allows a host to interact easier.
My design intervention seeks to make connections across disparate archives.
