Archivation

In a world where film archivists, historians, museums and information scientists research the practice of ARCHIVING, what can a media designer bring to the table?

Curiosity Epicenters

wunderkammer
So after my review two weeks ago, I’ve begun to think more about my thesis direction and how I want to remix these curiosity epicenters (aka archives) with wunderkammern and tasting rooms.

I recently came across a website called Wunderkammern. Wunderkammern “adopts the inspiring principle of those homonymous collections incorporating scientific curiosities and extraordinary objects that used to be gathered together since the Middle Ages, above all from the 16th to the 18th century. An in-progress collection of events oriented towards the marvellous, the paradox, the non-sense, the recomposing of extraordinary fragments, the gathering of extraordinary memories. A Scientific Committee composed of renown experts, critics, art theorists and collectors, oversees the programming of the exhibition calendar.”

I also found a magazine “Cabinet” where each issue is like a wunderkammer in print.
