A Lumière Universe

Next week I will be conducting a human centered design research project at the George Eastman House in Rochester, NY. Today I came across the powerdome®VELVET, a new projector from Carl Zeiss. It’s amazing how far we’ve come in terms of technology but how weirdly similar in form these two products are.

On Friday I will begin my two week research trip to Seattle, WA and Rochester, NY. This coming Friday I am planning on starting at NARA’s Pacific Northwest and Alaska regional location, just north of Seattle. In the afternoon I’ll be stopping by the University of Washington’s Archives.

How to tell one interface from another…

Last night Benjamin Bratton spoke in my Design Dialogues class. He calls himself a sociologist by trade who spends a lot of time with design. His talk was titled: “All design is interface design.” Which when you stop and think about it is or should be true. A lot of what he said struck a chord with me in a good way, helping me to reflect on my thesis work, my future practice and the type of designer I want to be.
